Electricity and Photovoltaics

To manufacture our pots, we also use electricity generated by our photovoltaic system. The energy produced by the system is used directly to support the facility's production activities.

Materials and environment

At Nicoli, we pay close attention to the selection of raw materials, the recovery of production waste, product recyclability, and the energy used in our processes.

Recycled plastic in our formulations

Nicoli uses recycled raw materials in its formulations and works to increase their use wherever technically compatible with the product's required characteristics. For the production of several pots and planters, we use recycled polypropylene sourced from post-industrial (PIR) streams and, for certain formulations, from post-consumer (PCR) streams. The percentage and type of recycled material may vary depending on the product family, formulation, required technical characteristics, and colour.

Recovery of production waste

During the production process, some polypropylene waste can be recovered, ground down, and reused in accordance with established procedures and formulations.

Verified recyclability

Some formulations used by Nicoli have undergone recyclability assessment by the Institut cyclos-HTP. The relevant certifications apply exclusively to the formulations, colours, and conditions specifically covered in the certificates. For this reason, we do not automatically extend recyclability assessments to all products or colour variants. Applicable information is clearly indicated in the available technical documentation.

Recognizability via NIR technology

Some of Nicoli formulations have undergone recognizability testing using NIR (Near-Infrared) technology, which is employed in automated plastic sorting systems. NIR recognizability depends on the product's formulation and colour; on its own, it does not guarantee that the product will actually be recycled, as end-of-life management also depends on locally available collection, sorting, and processing systems.

Packaging Choices

We use various types of packaging—including plastic bags, cardboard boxes, and pallets—to pack and handle our products. Some packaging types incorporate recycled materials, while pallets can be reused.

End-of-Life Information

Collection and disposal methods may vary depending on the location, the product, and local service regulations. To ensure proper disposal, we therefore recommend always checking the guidelines provided by your municipality or local waste management service.
